Dental Implants provide a solid foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel and function like natural teeth. Whether you are looking to replace a single tooth or several teeth, implants will give you the stability you need to smile and chew with confidence.
What is a dental implant?
Implants are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal. Tiny threads on the implant allow your bone to integrate with the implant, forming a biological bond that anchors the implant in place. Once healing is complete, a post is inserted and a crown or bridge is built to fit the implant and match the adjacent teeth. For people who have full or partial denture restorations, a small anchoring device (called a Locator attachment) is secured to the implant which “snaps” or “clips” the partial firmly into place.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
Beautiful, Natural Looking Restorations
A single tooth implant is virtually undetectable as dentistry. With minimal cosmetic gum surgery, implant-retained restorations look just like your natural teeth – from every angle. As with any crown or bridge work, your general dentist can match the shade and character of the adjacent teeth, creating a seamless transition from your teeth to your restorations.
Stability for Your Smile
Implants provide strength and stability for many kinds of dental restorations. Crowns, bridges and even dentures are attached securely to the bone, giving you confidence as you smile and speak. Because implants form a biological bond with the jaw bone, you can have a strong, healthy bite and enjoy freedom in your daily activities.
Healthy Bone
Implants solve many of the problems associated with other types of dental restorations. If you have a tooth-retained bridge that spans a missing tooth site, the bone in that area will dissolve and recede due to not having tooth roots to hold it in place. Implants serve the same function as the roots of your natural teeth: they hold the bone in place, preventing bone loss while providing a secure anchor for the visible tooth. Implants preserve a person’s facial contours in the absence of a natural tooth, so you will not develop the “sunken in” look that often accompanies missing teeth. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime!
Comfort and Fit
A healthy mouth with implants feels completely natural. Our patients tell us they often forget they ever had missing teeth! Just like a natural tooth, you can floss 360 degrees around an implant and “swish” around it with mouth rinse. Dr. Parham and your general dentist will work with you to make sure you have everything you want from your implant restorations: perfect form, excellent fit and natural function.

Implants for Denture Wearers
People who wear dentures often suffer from soreness and rubbing due to loose or ill-fitting dentures. That’s because without the roots of natural teeth to hold your jaw bone in place, the pressure of a full or partial denture causes the bone to dissolve and recede, leaving a weakened jaw bone and sunken facial contours. Bone loss beneath a denture doesn’t just lead to discomfort – you may also experience difficulty chewing, tasting food, speaking or laughing with confidence.
Dental Implants for Comfort, Stability and Health
Implants provide a long-lasting solution for the problems denture wearers face. Dr. Parham’s patients experience:
- Stable, supported dentures firmly anchored to the bone. No more rocking!
- Total comfort from a denture that won’t pinch or rub the gums.
- Enjoyment in eating and tasting food. Since the upper denture doesn’t need suction to hold it in place, the palate is open for you to experience the best part about good food!
- A healthy jaw bone. Since implants act just like the roots of natural teeth, they support the bone and prevent future bone loss.
- Long-term savings of money and time. Since dental implants virtually eliminate bone loss, the need for costly denture relines will be drastically reduced.
- Convenience and cleanliness – no more messy adhesives!
- Confidence and a feeling of youth regained.
With implants supporting your upper or lower denture, you can speak, chew and even laugh with confidence!
Implants are literally changing the way people live.
Mini Dental Implants
For added support in just one appointment, we also place temporary mini dental implants to “bridge the gap” while your long-term implants are healing.
Denture Stabilization with Mini Implants
With the latest technology, Dr. Parham can provide instant support for a full or partial denture utilizing mini implants.
If you are experiencing discomfort from your dentures due to looseness, pressure or rubbing, we can place mini implants (sometimes called “temporary implants”) to bring you instant relief.
Benefits of Mini Implants
Mini dental implants provide instant satisfaction for denture wearers: they are placed in a single visit with no stitches and virtually no discomfort! When you leave our office, your dentures will feel more stable and secure. That same day, you will be able to eat, speak and smile with confidence!
How are mini implants different from regular dental implants?
Whereas permanent dental implants can take several months to integrate with the bone and begin serving their function, mini implants begin supporting your denture right away. Mini implants can effectively bridge the time gap it takes for your longer-term implants to heal, giving you full function of your dentures the same day.
